The Bwog
You Too Could Be a Phone Sex Operator

If you've been a little sour on dear Alma Mater lately, an anonymous Bwog informant has just stumbled upon something to restore your faith in your degree and your Columbia.

This gal's a CU grad -- just like many of you! (Go Lions!) She majored in Anthropology. And also like many of you, she loves to just gab away on the telephone, except her telephone conversations are infinitely more lucrative and sexy (?) than yours:

"Men call me for an infinity of reasons. Of course, they call to masturbate. I call it 'Executive Stress Relief.' It's not sex; it's a cocktail of testosterone, fueled by addiction to pornography, loneliness, and the need to hear a woman's voice."

See? Plus, there's hope for those of you questioning the worth of your English/Anthro/Philosophy/Comp. Lit. degree:

"I make twice the money I made in the corporate world. I work from home, the money transfers into my bank account daily. I'm Scheherezade: If I don't tell stories that fascinate the Pasha, he will kill me in the morning."

Ha! Hear that econ. majors? Twice the money and 100% more phone sex.

Since she is 65, she was either GS or Barnard.

Dear Bwog,

Twice as much and 100% more mean the same thing.

although i don't usually use the 'but he/she' didn't go to columbia college' i will invoke it in this case. not because i judge phone sex, but that lady chose an unflattering outfit/ pose. she fancies herself a mrs. robinson, but as a new college graduate myself i would totally not hit that.

The "fi" ligature in "infinity" doesn't show up in my RSS feed. Just thought you should know.

"that lady chose an unflattering outfit/ pose"?

the artist who put the book together that this came from is a photographer... i doubt this lady posed herself entirely... you're gona use your use your 'but he/she' didn't go to columbia college' card on that? there are so many more "columbia" students that i find much more embarrassing than her...

That's because your RSS reader is displaying the post in a font that doesn't have ligatures. Change the font in your reader (if you can) to whichever one in the following family (from the Bwog CSS page) gets used in your browser and you'll have ligatures:

font-family: 'Adobe Caslon Regular', 'Adobe Caslon Reg SC', 'Adobe Caslon Regular Alternate', 'Adobe Caslon Reg', Caslon, 'Adobe Garamond', 'Garamond ITC', Garamond, Georgia, 'Times New Roman', sans-serif;

but I'd rather work in the "corporate world". As a cultural anthropology major (does such a thing exist?) and a phone expert, she was probably referring to the receptionist's position.

I'm using Google Reader on my iGoogle homepage. Anyway I was just pointing it out because that problem has never happened before. I'm guessing they got the text from a Word or Apple Pages document where the ligatures were automatically put in, and it was copied and pasted onto the Bwog entry. I've seen ligatures mess up a PowerPoint presentation made on a Mac but played on a PC, it wasn't pretty.

Hmmm... I've now retired from webmaster, but this is pretty interesting... because there's no ligature in the HTML source!

That said, I use Google Reader to keep up with Bwog and it's wrong for me too. How odd.
