The Bwog
Too far, Zuckerberg, too far

kkFacebook has long deleted facebook personalities that probably actually don't exist. It started with Alexander Hamilton, and moved on to Barack Obama (although he has his own legit profile now anyway). But now, they've killed someone much closer to home: the lovely and charming BandW Bwog, who had the pleasure of becoming friends with many of you in its two-week existence. A quick search reveals that Inside New York and even the well-connected CU Arts have also been disappeared.

It's a dangerous world out there for web-based beings. They can't change who they are!

Neologisms-R-Us

In addition to all the other crazy stuff going on this week, it looks like you can add another controversial event to the list, because Thursday is going to be Islamo Fascism Awareness Day. Great. Bwog recalls the good ol' days when we were called "islamofascist" by a pundit or two, and we wonder if some Safire-ean scribe wants to offer an etymology of the term.

Speaking of Which

Another bit of media chit-chat: the editorial Karina Garcia and others put up on CounterPunch calling out Columbia for its apparently discriminatory rulings regarding the stage incident, titled "A Case of Racism." "By bowing to right-wing pressure, Columbia University brought shame to itself," it declares. "But their politically motivated and ultimately racist punishments should not obscure an obvious truth: we won." Well snap.

And Just Sayin...

Did anyone else notice that CCO, which went down on Saturday, was sponsored partially by Student Loan Xpress? AWKWARD.

Quick Spec

Facebook? Fascism? Who knew?

A frequent contributor wrote in to say:

facebook.com

The Harvard-spawned fascists who control facebook.com apparently have begun purging the site of one of its best features: funny profiles.

It seems they decided that Aaron Burr didn't do his job properly the first time (did you expect any better from a Princeton alum?) and deleted Alexander Hamilton's profile. Over 1200 Columbians and 1000 other students nationwide lost a dear friend. I attempted to log in today and received this gloating error message: "Your account has been disabled by an administrator. Please contact info@facebook.com for more information."

Who's next? Barack Obama? Peter Parker? John Jay? The Man? Alma Mater? YOU? Where will they draw the line?

No profile is safe! The slave power is silencing us!...err, sorry, Foner exam in 40 minutes.
