Brendan Ballou interviews known nice-guy-finishes-last Alex Statman, C'09 about how he'd perform in Prez Bo's 5K fun run.

alexSo Alex, did you run Bollinger's 5K this morning?

No.

Do you run regularly?

Not at all.

When is the last time you exercised?

I had to pass PE in ninth grade.

So how do you think you would have done?

I believe you can do anything you put your mind to. So yeah, I would have done pretty well.

What did you think about the course?

I've always loved Riverside Park, definitely one of the best parks in the city. I hear it's nice to start with that easy downhill. The problem with Morningside Heights is that every step you take downhill, you're going to have to take uphill on the way back.

How would you have gotten through the difficult middle mile of the 5k?

I would have had to steel myself both physically and mentally. A lot of people don't realize this, but so much of running is just psychology: you just need to remind yourself, 'Hey, I can get through this.'

How would it have felt to finish?

It would have been fantastic.

This morning's Prezbo-sponsored fun run began just fifteen minutes ago.

Report from the sidelines is that Prezbo was roughly three minutes behind at the halfway mark and looked tired. The CU Track team was standing around directing and cheering everyone else on, but there was not so much running coming from them.

And the organizers ran out of small T-shirts. A sad day for us non-elephants.

Pictures (scantily clad swim team boys!) after the jump.
